Greetings from the Ambassador Mr. YAMADA Jun
令和3年4月25日

My name is Jun Yamada. I have just assumed my mission as Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan and Japan have been connected by a strong bond of friendship and sense of solidarity. Our precious diplomatic relations which were established immediately after the Republic’s independence in 1991 will celebrate the significant milestone of 30th anniversary next year. It is an incredible honor for me to start my mission at such historic juncture but accordingly I cannot help feeling the grave responsibility upon my shoulders.
Each and every country in the world naturally inherits the most diverse historical, geographical and cultural backgrounds and all of them aspire for further development within such conditions. From that point of view, Kazakhstan is definitely a very fortunate country indeed – it is blessed by the most spacious territory and abundant natural resources, together with very rich and profound culture. Both Japan and Kazakhstan are obliged not only to promote our own respective national interests but also to make our due contribution to the overall progress of humankind, precisely by further expanding and deepening our own mutual relationship.
Having experienced utter tragedy and bitterest lessons through two world wars in the previous century, the human community has been steadfastly moving forward – albeit with various deviations and setbacks – towards an establishment of genuine peace and sustainable development. In this context, the literally global pandemic since last year presents a totally new existential challenge to the whole humankind, questioning the presence of their reason. Now we are standing at such a vital – almost lethal – crossroad: one would elevate us to the new level of unity and integration of the entire international structure, but the other shall allow the humans to revert and degrade to the bigotry and barbarism which has been recurring endlessly since the ancient times.
There is absolutely no doubt that Kazakhstan and Japan, if we combine our entire resources and wisdom, can make crucial contribution to the world community in its endeavor to overcome the current challenge. Therefore, I am fully determined to pursue further development of our unique and important bilateral relations, always being mindful of such historic mission and responsibility upon ourselves.
It is my sincere hope that the Government and the people of Kazakhstan, together with our fellow Japanese nationals who have committed themselves to the future development of this great country, will kindly continue to provide my Embassy with the frankest advices and guidance during my stay.
